Tips on Air Pollution Control Equipment

from:

The main focus on air pollution control equipment is to reduce emissions, complying with regulatory requirements—present and future. Additionally, this task must integrate the needs of any one particular production process and schedule, with that industry's budget. Some products are designed specifically for different areas of air control, such as the dust emission control, acid gas removal systems, and eh NOx removal systems. Each division has its own products which work in different way.

An example of air pollution control equipment could be one company's products which specializes in the removal of acid gas—a system which involves the FGT system for dry and semi-dry systems, or combined wet-dry systems, dioxins and heavy metals control, or a Wet FGC scrubbing for Diesal Engines and Industrial Boilers. These products are used in certain segments of industrial activity, such as large utility boilers, industrial boilers, diesel generators stations, and gas turbines combined cycles. Other segments involve waste incineration, biomass, refineries, glass industry, cement industries, ore industries, steel industries, non-ferrous industries, and fertilizer industries.

• ESP-electrostatic precipitator
o Preferred air pollution control technology for power generations and industrial processes
o Highly effective dust collectors
o Proven collection efficiencies of up to 99.9%
• FF-Fabric filter
o Utilize different applications over ESPs
o Acidity of high sulfur coal collection
o Effective for fine particulates and metal collection, including mercury
• FGT-Flue Gas Treatment and FGD-Flue Gas Desulphurization
o Waste incineration
o Control of pollutants such as Sox, HCI, HF, NOx, heavy metals, dioxins, and furans
• SCR-Selective Catalytic Reduction
o Most effective method of controlling nitrogen oxide emissions from combustion sources
o Commercially proven flue gas treatment technology
o Demonstrated to remove 90% of the NOx in combustion system exhaust gas which contributes to acid rain and smog
o Best type of technology for NOx reduction at a particular site
o Considered site specific
• SNCR-Selective Non-catalytic Reduction
o Injection of ammonia or urea into the radiant and convection regions of a furnace
o Treats the flue gases, allows reduction reaction to occur
o Products of SNCR reactions are benign, water vapor, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen
o Low cost capital equipment that is versatile
o Offers competitive economic advantages.

Air pollution Issues are continuously developing and higher quality operating requirements is much needed for advanced air pollution control equipment—aging of equipment which needs to be replaced, changes and advances in processes, following new regulations being developed, newer preventive maintenance, more advance forms of emergency repairs, and able to provide much-needed maintenance and services within the equipment itself. Equipment that was developed when air pollution first began is not designed to meet current specifications and requirements, requiring an upgrade or repaired, if not completely rebuilt, with approximately 20% of air pollution control equipment needing complete modifications.
